School Meals

At St. Andrew’s we believe that a healthy diet is important for children’s development and a good lunch will ensure that they are able to focus and concentrate during the afternoon. All of our school lunches are cooked on the premises from fresh ingredients. Our food conforms to the School Food Standards and nutritional recommendations.

Our menus rotate on a 3 week cycle.

Packed lunches

If your child would prefer to bring a packed lunch from home we would ask that you adhere to our Healthy School guidelines. Please do not include chocolate or sweets. Water or milk is provided at lunch so you do not need to send a drink.

The Childrens’ Food Trust recommends that a child’s packed lunch should include:

• A starchy food – such as bread, pasta, cous cous or potato
• Fruit and veg – we all need to eat more of these!
• A protein food – this includes beans, pulses, fish, eggs and meat
• A dairy item – this could be cheese or yoghurt
